COURSE DESCRIPTION
ARCHITECTURAL PRESENTATION TECHNIQUES COURSE (MIM1031 - GR4) IN 2021 – 2022 ACADEMIC YEAR FALL SEMESTER WILL FOCUS ON CERTAIN STEPS OF DESIGN PROCESS: PARTICULARLY PRE-DESIGN AND FINAL DESIGN. THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS COVERED IN THIS COURSE CAN BE CONSIDERED AS A BASIS FOR ARCHITECTURAL EDUCATION. THEREFORE, IT IS ESSENTIAL FOR STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN ALL LECTURES AND IN-CLASS PRACTICES AND DO THEIR HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS THOROUGHLY FOR THEIR SUCCESS IN THEIR EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL LIFE.

THE MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE ARE TO PROVIDE NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ABOUT

PROPERTIES AND PROPER USAGE OF ARCHITECTURAL PRESENTATION TOOLS,

EXPRESSING ARCHITECTURAL IDEAS,

TWO- AND THREE-DIMENSIONAL THINKING: COMPREHENDING PRESENTED IDEAS AND PROJECTING ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN INTO PRESENTATIONS.
WEEKLY SCHEDULE
LECTURES WILL TAKE PLACE BETWEEN 14.00 – 20.00 ON MONDAYS FACE-TO-FACE FOR 14 WEEKS IN D208 AND D211 ACCORDING TO THE COURSE PROGRAM ORGANIZED BY HEAD OFFICE.
ALL ARRANGEMENTS FOR WEEKLY SCHEDULE, LECTURING SYSTEM, EXAMS, GRADING, ATTENDANCE ETC. ARE ORGANIZED IN ACCORDANCE WITH UNIVERSITY REGULATIONS. DURING THE SEMESTER, THERE CAN BE UNAVOIDABLE CHANGES DUE TO PANDEMIC. DETAILS WILL BE EXPLAINED IN ADVANCE DURING LECTURES, VIA OBS MESSAGES AND ON THE ANNOUNCEMENTS PAGE, IT IS STUDENTS’ RESPONSIBILITY TO FOLLOW.
THROUGHOUT THE SEMESTER, IN ORDER TO EMBRACE NECESSARY INFORMATION AND TECHNIQUES, THE COURSE WILL HAVE BOTH LECTURE AND PRACTICAL SECTIONS. THE MAIN AIM IS TO REINFORCE PRESENTATION METHODS THROUGH PRACTICE REPETITIONS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. IN-CLASS EXERCISES AND HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS CAN INCLUDE FREEHAND SKETCHES, HAND / DIGITAL DRAFTING, WRITING, COLORING, MODEL MAKING ETC. ACCORDING TO THE PANDEMIC REGULATIONS, SIX HOURS WILL BE DIVIDED IN 30 – 40 MIN. SESSIONS. ALL STUDENTS HAVE TO FOLLOW PANDEMIC REGULATIONS SET BY DEAN’S OFFICE.

EXAMS AND GRADING
STUDIES WILL BE EVALUATED IN A TWO-STEP SYSTEM. TRANSCRIPT GRADE WILL BE CALCULATED WITH 60% OF MIDTERM AND 40% OF FINAL EXAM SCORES AND CLASS MEAN IN ACCORDANCE WITH YTU UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION REGULATIONS. MIDTERM SCORE WILL BE DETERMINED BY A MIDTERM EXAM, IN-CLASS EXERCISES AND HOMEWORKS. FINAL EXAM WILL BE ORGANIZED ACCORDING TO THE PROGRAM WHICH WILL BE ANNOUNCED BY HEAD OFFICE AT THE END OF THE SEMESTER. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT MAKE-UP EVALUATION CAN ONLY BE AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS WITH A VALID EXCUSE APPROVED BY THE HEAD OFFICE.

DO NOT CONSUME FOOD OR DRINKS.

DISPOSE USED MASK AND GLOVES IN WASTE BINS FOR PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT IN CORRIDORS.

NO VISITORS ARE ALLOWED.

DO NOT CHANGE SITTING ARRANGEMENTS IN ANY WAY.
